The Old Mill Inn Wedding Toronto // Irene & Jeff

Surrounded by the love of their best friends and closest family, Irene and Jeff united their love in an intimate ceremony at the Old Mill Inn. The venue is a village oasis hidden amidst a vast city, such a stark contrast to its surroundings it was almost surreal. Fighting unbearably hot temperatures, we trekked down through the meadows and across the steep shores of the Humber River. We arrived at our portrait session location – a bridge that is under construction. With all these obstacles, no one could have blamed Irene and Jeff for complaining, but they remained upbeat throughout the day. We wrapped up the night with food and drink at 1800 Degrees Restaurant. Just one more adventurous wedding day in Toronto. Cheers!

Toronto City Hall Wedding // Caroline & Matt

Every once in awhile we are faced with a shoot that challenges us physically, but for that very reason we find the results of our work even more rewarding. Caroline and Matt’s wedding portrait session had all of us enduring frigid cold, coupled with freezing rain that could have dampened our spirits. Instead, the brave couple spent the morning smiling and laughing on their wedding day – a testament to the belief that it’s not where you are that matters, but who you are with in that moment.
We started off at Evergreen Brick Works for their portrait session, then down to Polson Pier for a city view – which was completely hidden behind a wall of snow and rain. We still managed to snap a few romantic shots of the adventurous couple, but soon moved to Nathan Phillips Square Rink for skating. Their last moments as singles were spent playfully on the ice, as immediately after we joined them for their Toronto City Hall wedding. What could have been a trying and stressful day, turned into a calm and romantic shoot – made possible by the whimsical snow and a couple who embody what it means to be in love.

DIY Wedding Planning Tips From Toronto Wedding Photographer

With winter finally winding down, it’s time to start looking ahead to spring – and wedding season. The warm weather invites garden ceremonies and rooftop celebrations, and we’re itching to get behind the lens. Planning your own wedding can be overwhelming, but no matter your budget you can get exactly what you want with a DIY wedding. From handmade decorations to personalized centerpieces, a DIY wedding guarantees a unique look – without breaking the bank.
Think about the big picture – from the venue to the overall theme of the wedding. The wedding venue will inevitably direct your big day. A garden or backyard wedding, such as The Berkeley Field House will have a more casual feel, while a hotel reception similar to St. Lawrence Hall in Toronto begs for a swanky cocktail hour. Decide on the atmosphere and then you can focus on the little things. Most brides have no idea where to begin, but shun the traditional wedding magazines, which feature models and not real brides – and head online. Blogs like Style Me Pretty, Etsy and Ruffled Blog can open a world of images to inspire your DIY projects for every aspect of your wedding. Even the greenest DIY-er can find how-to guides to help along the way. When it comes to larger projects, ask your family and friends to help – they’ll be honoured to be included. Lastly, give yourself enough time to complete your projects, the last thing you want is to be scrambling right before the wedding. Happy planning!

Destination Wedding Photographer Boston USA // Amy & Andrew

November 12, 2011
This may be just another date for some of you but this day is a special memory for two people in this world.
What’s so special about this day you say?
Well, where do we begin? The crisp rustic leaves on the ground, the warm shimmering gold sun and the gentle breeze in the air all tied in together to create that gorgeous and perfect fall day.
It was the perfect day for a perfect wedding; the wedding of Amy and Andrew to be more specific.
We first met the happy couple the day before the wedding at a coffee shop in Boston. They trusted us enough to be a part of this event being from Toronto and we are grateful to have been included in such a beautiful occasion.
From the moment we met them we could tell how caring and hospitable both Amy and Andrew were; they made sure every moment of our visit was comfortable.
The morning of the destination wedding was straight out of a fairytale. The beautiful glowing sun shone into Amy’s room on the chilly morning. It was just magical. The natural light made everything even more stunning and enchanted, if that was even possible.
We were in the coziest room at the charming Bed and Breakfast, The Mary Prentiss Inn next to a fireplace, a real one at that. Who sees those anymore right? Cookies were available all day and the décor was vintage. Pure perfection.
The couples’ vows were exchanged at the MIT Chapel in Cambridge where the lighting was unbelievably beautiful. With a single natural light source from above, it was heavenly.
Amy and Andrew took us out to lunch at the Crema Café which definitely had the best sandwiches ever. If you haven’t been there yet, go try it out you won’t be disappointed.
After portrait session with Andrew and Amy, the reception followed in the Dudley house where the party took off. With the party lighting, elegant décor, adorable flower arrangements, toasts and the dancing, everything came together and everyone had a blast. You would wish you were a part of it. It was a day almost as perfect as the couple, you had to be there.
It was a memorable experience and most importantly the best possible day for the beautiful couple. It was an honour to be a part of this eventful day. Thank you Amy and Andrew! Congrats.
